Awards

Hundreds of Awards will be given by AzSEF! AzSEF gives awards in the form of ribbons to first, second, third, and honorable mention winners in each of the categories. Multiple awards in certain categories may be given. Cash awards will be presented for the first through third place in the Explorer, Investigator, and Senior Categories. For Team projects, the cash award will be split among the exhibitors. An official representative for each school should be present at the Awards Program to collect certificates and ribbons.

Additional Awards are given by colleges, centers and departments at Arizona State University in the form of publications, cash, books and other items.

Yet More Awards are given by branches of the U.S. military, special interest groups, and other organizations.

Discovery Young Scientist Challenge Award Discovery Communications, Inc. teamed up with Science Service, Inc. in 1999 to offer a new award to Participants in grades 5-8 of ISEF affiliated Fairs. Thousands of middle school students are nominated by their fair directors to enter their projects in the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge. Student projects are judged on their scientific merit and, just as importantly, on the student's ability to communicate the science of their project. In October of the award year, finalists selected by Discovery will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. , for the competition finals, consisting of a series of team challenges and oral presentations. The top three national winners receive scholarships and numerous special prizes are awarded. You can learn more about the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge by going to the Discovery website.
