ALL PARTICIPANTS NEED TO FILL OUT A PHOTO RELEASE FORM

PROJECT REGISTRATIONS FOR Jr. HIGH DIVISION. Please be sure that you see the notice that your entry has been recorded before moving on. If you do not see the notice, then we did not recieve your registration and you have NOT applied.

I.  Deadlines

Projects registrations must be completed by February 29, 2008. All accompanying paperwork must be completely filled out and RECEIVED by March 2, 2008.

• If prior approval was required for the project from the Scientific Review Committee or the Institutional Review Board (human subjects) students should have copies of all forms submitted to our office in his/her notebook. Do not call our office for copies. We will re-review your project to make sure that you still comply with the SRC or IRB requirements.
• Entrance Fee. There will be no entrance fee in 2008.
• Electricity . Electricity is available to Senior Division Only .
• Abstracts. In addition to a Project Display, our fair requires an Abstract. An abstract is a short summary of the project. Typically, an abstract from the 5th through 8th grade is a one paragraph summary of the experiment. It should not be longer than one page in length and no more than 250 words.

• Recommendations for Project Display. Please make sure that your project display complies with the Safety and Display Regulations. Remember to include a copy of your abstract on your board.
• Maximum Size: 15 in. deep
  48 in. wide
  72 in. high
• Do not list sponsors
• Do not post acknowledgements
• Designate source of images (i.e. Photo taken by student, book, magazine, web site, etc.)

• Recommendations for Papers. The STC gives out several cash awards every year for well written papers.

V.  Schedule

The fair will be held March 18-21, 2008, at the Phoenix Convention Center, Phoenix, Az.

Set Up Day: 

• Monday, March 18, 2008, 10:00am – 8:00pm
• One team member may set up a team project. Teachers or parents may setup projects for students.
• Parking is available in nearby lots; please proceed to the entrance of the convention center to check in and setup project..

Set Up Process:

• Setup may take anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Only bring items integral to your project! Your display board should speak for your project.
• The Science Review Committee (SRC) will insure that your projects follow the guidelines. See ISEF Display and Safety Regulations.

Interviews for Elementary and Jr. High Division Participants:   Interviews are required for Elementary and Jr. High students. All interviews will be conducted in conjunction with judging on Thursday, March 20, from 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Awards Ceremony: 

• Friday, March 21, 2008 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm .
• Students are encouraged to be present during the awards ceremony.
• Many special awards require a photograph of the participants and their display to be submitted with the paperwork to receive the award. Some special award winners will be asked to stand by projects for photo opportunities after the ceremony.

Awards Ceremony Schedule:

• 5:00-5:45pm Special Awards for all divisions (Elementary, Jr. High, and Senior)
• 5:45-6:30pm Category Awards for the Elementary and Jr. High Division
• 6:30-6:45pm Intermission. There will be an intermission during the ceremony after the category awards for the Elementary and Jr. High divisions have been announced. Elementary and Jr. High Students may tear down their projects after the intermission.
• 6:45-8:00pm Category Awards for the Senior Division

Project Takedown:

• March 21, 2008, from 6:30pm – 10:00pm for the Elementary and Jr. High divisions. Senior Division projects may not be taken down until the awards ceremony is completed at 8:00pm.
• If you intend to have a friend pick up your project, please give the AzSEF staff a note regarding this arrangement during set-up day.
• Projects not taken down during this time will be thrown away. AzSEF cannot hold projects for participants.
